Miles for Manufacturing 5K

The Miles for Manufacturing (Miles4Mfg) 5K Run/Walk is an IMTS tradition, bringing the manufacturing community together around a shared goal: investing in the next generation of our industry.

Launched at IMTS 2014, Miles4Mfg turns every registration, sponsorship, and donation into direct support for manufacturing and STEM education. Because IMTS covers the event's production expenses, 100% of the money raised goes back out to schools and programs preparing the next generation of innovators, makers, engineers, and problem solvers.

A Record-Breaking 2026

The manufacturing community showed up in a big way at IMTS 2026. The race sold out with 600 registrations and raised a record $67,870 for manufacturing education:

$30,750 from industry sponsorships
$32,716 from race registrations
$4,404 in individual donations from IMTS exhibitors, staff, and visitors

Every dollar will be distributed to more than two dozen manufacturing education programs across the country, including $19,000 for Chicago Public Schools STEM programs.

In 2027, we're taking Miles for Manufacturing beyond Chicago.

Throughout October 2027, Miles4Mfg will become a month-long virtual event celebrating Manufacturing Month. Participants across the country can run, walk, or bike in their own communities while coming together for the same mission: supporting the future of manufacturing.

Choose your route. Grab your coworkers, friends, or family. Wear your Miles4Mfg race shirt. Share your photos with us, and we'll celebrate participants from across the IMTS community throughout the month.

And while the format is changing for 2027, the most important part isn't: 100% of proceeds will once again be donated to schools and manufacturing education programs.

Wherever you put in your miles, you're helping the next generation find their path into manufacturing.
